TORONTO, ON
(November 28, 2014) – Harbourfront Centre’s DJ Skate Nights will once
again drop the beat on the winter blahs for 11 straight weeks, inviting
a stellar lineup of local party-starters and legendary international DJs
to ramp up the scene on the
Natrel Rink.
No cover charge. No line-ups. Just beats, blades and good times from
Dec. 13–Feb. 21 at Harbourfront Centre’s DJ Skate Nights.
This year’s DJ Skate Nights season is all about paying respect to the
DJs and the parties that pioneered dance music, with a lineup boasting a
combination of international trail blazers and the fresh, local talent
they’ve inspired. Included in this year’s lineup is an ode to the 30th
anniversary of house music with New York-based house legend, Jellybean
Benitez. Although house music takes centre ice on opening night, and
will reappear throughout the season, Torontonians can also bundle up to
the sounds of hip-hop, disco, dancehall, jazz and rock ‘n’ roll
throughout the season.
“Over the last couple of years we’ve seen house music take its place at
the forefront of the music industry,” says Sergio Elmir, DJ Skate
Nights' lead artistic associate. “Yet many don’t realize its history.
The pairing of Jellybean Benitez and Toronto’s own Groove Institute on
opening night allows patrons to party on the foundation of house, while
also celebrating its future.”
Whether it’s on the ice of the Natrel Rink, warming up next to the fire
pits, or enjoying a drink inside the Lakeside Local Bar & Grill, there
is something for everyone. With no lines, no cover and no dress code in
effect, Harbourfront Centre’s DJ Skate Nights provide a unique,
family-friendly outdoor party experience for all who wish to attend.
