New Year's Eve on Nathan Phillips Square
Show off
moves at Dancing on the Pier |
TORONTO, ON (June 10, 2015) - Harbourfront Centre
is pleased to announce the return of the outdoor social dance
series Dancing on the Pier. Now in its 5th edition, this weekly
series offers Torontonians of all skill levels the chance to get
on their feet and dance to live bands every Thursday from June
25 to September 3, 7 pm to 10 pm. The series will have three
signature bands on rotation during the summer: Swing Shift Big
Band and Toronto All-Star Big Band, two ensembles committed to
preserving the sounds and energy of the big band era, and Son
Ache, one of Toronto's most popular Cuban groups.
"Harbourfront Centre's waterfront is a spectacular space to
enjoy great music, dance, be with friends or meet new ones,"
says Bridget Love, Artistic Associate at Harbourfront Centre.
"Each night there will be a social dance club present to teach
the dance steps for that night."
Dancing on the Pier has a great series planned. Here are some of
the highlights:
• June 25 - Son Ache performs their high-energy son montuno,
which has been packing dance floors for years. This special
Pride edition features free dance lessons by LGBT Dance to
accompany the sizzling salsa music.
• July 2 - Swing Shift Big Band, one of the top-rated big bands
in Canada, will have you dancing to the classics.
• August 6 - Casineros Unidos Dance Productions will be on site
teaching contemporary ballroom and salsa with Son Ache.
• August 13 - Jumpin' & Jivin' with Toronto's All-Star Big Band:
Dance like never before with one of the top swing bands in North
America.
Dancing on the Pier is free to all who attend. Dance experts
will be on site to help every step of the way. For further
